The research is based on the ideas defended by Adorno, Brecht and many other critics of the Bourgeois Society, where Education and Theatre should not limit their actions to the ambit of adaptation, in other words, to the mechanic reproduction of the status quo.Theatre and Education hold an important social duty to contest and resist in the way that they shape themselves as privileged spaces to provide individual emancipation and social transformation. In order for this to happen, the study claims the necessity of a principle of transgression, which must be present in all levels of educational and theatrical actions, and, also vital, in the process of development of its professionals. The investigation is driven, therefore, towards the search for this principle of transgression at the Theatre"s Higher Education of Brazil. For that, it draws a map of the social and historic context where these courses were created, based on the proposal of Goodson, in which the conflict between the different strengths of society defines the selection of curricular content. The result, finally, is a historic narrative that reveals the social process that took place during the creation and development of Theatre"s Higher Education of Brazil. The history begins in the early twenties and thirties, with the movement of modernization of Brazilian Culture; it carries on to the uprising of the first graduations for artists and teachers, from early sixties to late seventies; at last, it describes the crescent expansion of the sector, from the eighties to date. The objective of this study is to bring to light all the (im) possibilities to establish a truly critic-transgressor attitude within Theatre"s Higher Education of Brazil
