The history of the Quilmes Indians, located in northwestern Argentina, is a paradigmatic case in the field of contemporary archeology, since it allows us to analyze the material and cultural permanencies of an ethnic group from the time of colonial contact to the present day.All this history it ́s told in the 'Ciudad Sagrada de los Quilmes'; archaeological site placed in the province of Tucumán, Argentine Northwest 2 .In this place not only are found the monuments archaeological vestiges of this ancient Andean culture but also contemporary archaeological remains which reflect aspects of domination and resistance experienced by this people over centuries of occupation colony.In this context, we analyze the constructions of academic narratives about the Quilmes Indians throughout the XIX, XX and XXI centuries, and also the emic perception of history and its relationship with material culture.Therefore, in addition to assessments of historical narrative sources, we leave for a historical nature of anthropological field research to perform the analysis of oral and written sources.This underscores the character of historical agents of the native populations and reveals how they act against historical (academic or not) "truths" constructed from outside of the original culture and how they develop their sense of ethnicity.In that sense that the importance of this research is presented, to highlight the amplitude of views in the ambit of academic research and the theoretical contributions resulting from these aspects
