This research aims to analyze the meanings that the Armenian Genocide (1915)(1916)(1917)(1918)(1919)(1920)(1921)(1922)(1923) has for survivors' descendants, who belong to the diaspora within the city of São Paulo.More specifically, this project focuses on the understanding of how this event's memory is transmitted and articulated, and how the violence of the period affected the family experience, life stories, and identity of the Armenian women who did not experience the massacres directly.I also intend to analyze how these processes are related to a communal narrative about women's role in maintaining the family and reconstructing life after forced immigration
