This dissertation, based on the assumptions of the Principles & Parameters framework, in its current stage, the Minimalist Program (CHOMSKY, 1993 and subsequent work), investigates the use of the word tudo as a degree modifier in colloquial Brazilian Portuguese (BP).We seek to demonstrate that tudo is an element that belongs to the todo-all series (todo and its inflections: todo(s), toda(s)), and that tudo is defective in terms of its φ-features.Tudo is a head, Q 0 , which selects a nominal element (semantically plural) as a complement. Our goal is to provide the syntax of tudo, assuming the argument that it works as a modifier of predication relations (QUADROS GOMES, 2009; VICENTE & QUADROS GOMES, 2013), i.e., in sentences in which it occurs, this item semantically operates over a predication relation (predicate + argument), elevating to the maximal extent the application of the predication to its argument. This semantic operation of "maximalization" or "maximization" (BRISSON, 1998; QUADROS GOMES, 2009;LIMA, 2013) is captured in the syntax by Agree between a degree head Degwhich projects a Degree Phrase, in an A'-domain, above a non-verbal predicate (in case the predication relation adjusted to its maximal degree is the complex [property plus the argument possessor of such property]), above VP (in which case the complex is [predicate plus the internal argument]) or vP (in which case the complex is [predicate plus the external argument])and tudowhich is selected to the numeration bearing a degree feature, valued as "maximum", ∀, that is capable of valuing Deg's uninterpretable degree feature (VICENTE, QUADROS GOMES & LUNGUINHO, 2016).Our research is motivated by the scarcity of formal studies on the colloquial use of tudo in Brazilian Portuguese
