This essay examines narratives of the Mexican-US border taken from urban politics, literature, art and popular culture in order to describe the relations between Latin American, US and Canadian “culture” as represented in the cultural imaginary of these respective societies. With reference to metaphor, such as that represented by M. Ramirez Erre's “Trojan Horse”—constructed on the border between Tijuana and San Diego—the essay argues that frontier relations in the era of globalization are polycentric
