This work is a study on the Chemistry Degree at UFAL developed from the survey and reading official documents about at course. With this study we aimed to present and discuss the strategies used for implantation and strengthening of the course during the interval from 1974 to 2010, a period from the foundation of the course until the implementation of the present Political-pedagogical Project. Reading, made from documentary analysis, shows the obstacles and transformations through which passed Chemistry Degree in this period, seeking to meet social demands and the official orientation
