This paper analyses the experiences of violence against women-residents (VAW) in their interrelationships with the nightlife model configured in the old centre of the city of Mazatlan, Mexico. This qualitative study retrieves and relates experiences of direct violence through witness files and focus groups. Results revealed that the participants tend to "wipe out" the incidents, justifying the same with the party atmosphere, and classifying as "low impact" the violence they experience in the nightlife circuits in Plazuela Machado and surrounding streets. Since this space functions as a tourist enclave, violence experienced by women beyond the spaces subject to the nightlife economy (NE) takes more visible, explicit forms and with important sexual connotations. The nightlife model downtown has contributed to the configuration of an unequal urban space that conditions how women-residents transit, use, and appropriate the tourist and non-tourist spaces
