En aquest article, s'hi presenten els resultats d'una recerca sobre migraci qualificada a la Ciutat de Mxic centrada en un grup de dones expatriades espanyoles. Des d'una perspectiva de gnere, s'hi analitzen les reorientacions laborals i les estratgies de negociaci dins les llars d'un grup de dones d'alta qualificaci que acompanyen els seus marits (o parelles) en el procs migratori. Lluny de considerar-les com a subjectes passius d'aquest procs, l'article les mostra com a agents actius capaos de reformular estratgies per afrontar canvis substancials com a dones, treballadores, esposes i mares al pas de destinaci. Finalment, tamb s'hi exposen les principals prctiques espacials d'aquestes dones, aix com algunes percepcions i imaginaris de la Ciutat de Mxic, que, en general, es relacionen amb la desconfiana i la por.
