En aquest article, sistematitzem alguns dels factors que condicionen el procés de construcció de la identitat ètnica entre els joves immigrants marroquins a Espanya, especialment les condicions en què la identitat ètnica pot activar com a recurs individual la societat receptora per afirmar i mantenir l'autoestima i l'acceptació de l'endogrup i lluitar contra el racisme i la discriminació. Aquests factors inclouen els «altres» grups de referència per a l'individu, l'efecte de l'islam i la voluntat de preservació cultural entre els pares, factors la influència dels quals en el nostre tema objecte d'estudi ha de ser considerada conjuntament.
