The present study investigated the role of parents in the sports career of rhythmic gymnastics athletes, determining the type of parental involvement in this context, verifying the process of family interaction and identifying the parents characteristics that can influence the athlete's sporting career. The measuring instrument was a semi-structured questionnaire. Were participants of the research 35 subjects. Descriptive statistics and categorical content analysis were used for the data processing. It was concluded that the roles of warmth and control played were fundamental in the development of personal characteristics in the gymnasts, demonstrating the importance of social support for the athletes.
