Based on a theoretical analysis and field research conducted in the village of Téquita, Boyacá, Colombia, during the covid-19 pandemic in 2021, this article examines how qualitative and ethnographic methodologies, along with the study of environmental perceptions, contribute to strengthening participation in research. From Tim Ingold's perspective (2000) on environmental perception, it analyzes how the knowledge and experiences of the farmers in the páramo of the high mountains of Güina can be integrated into research processes and the formulation of public policies. Additionally, it explores the challenges that hinder effective participation, especially in contexts where conservation policies impose restrictions without considering local perceptions and practices, generating tensions in territorial governance
