Disputas ante la modificación del Código de Convivencia y apropiación del espacio urbano en La Plata, Argentina (2018-2021)

This article explores the disputes related to the modification of the Code of Coexistence promoted by La Plata City Administration. The purpose of this study is to inquire into the lineaments of the preliminary draft and the critical observations made by different civil society organizations. It focuses on the activity of urban recyclers-one of the actors who questioned the governmental project. A qualitative approach was used to analyze urban public policies, social demands on the use of space, and daily urban practices of this social group in order to account for conflicting ways of understanding the city. Thanks to the investigation of situated social practices, it was possible to recognize forms of collective mobilization that make up a public problem and, in turn, configure other ways of inhabiting the urban space
