The analysis of the results of the dynamics of processes of marriages and divorces has been represented in this paper and the population reproductive intentions in the Irkutsk Region have been characterized. The study materials testify an increased (from the beginning of 2000s) number of registered marriages and a high level of divorces (during 2007-201 1, the average index was 554.0 divorces per 1 000 marriages). About 40 % of children were born in “civil marriages” (unregistered marriages) or by single mothers each year in the region. The profound sociological studies of youth groups and adult population living in the towns of the Irkutsk Region have shown that most of the respondents were oriented towards formation of families with not many children. Among the interviewed “family” respondents, 64.5 % had one child, and 31.4 % had two children. Among the main causes preventing from realization of their reproductive intentions, the respondents noted financial and housing problems
