Recent archaeological research centered in a small valley located in the upper Little Colorado region of Arizona discovered the presence of a number of small pueblo sites dating to between A.D. 900 and 1150. Analysis of settlement distributions relative to environmental variables in conjunction with artifactual, architectural and botanical analysis indicated that sand dune farming was being practiced. Some implications of these findings relative to regional adaptation are discussed
