Half of those who ought to receive a basic education in China are girls. If the question of schooling for girls is not resolved, compulsory education cannot be implemented, and the goal of improving the nation's ideological, moral, cultural, and scientific quality, as well the improvement of women's political, economic, and cultural status, will not be realized. Hence, girls' education is a problem well worth attention
