The low level of education of Gypsies is not only the problem of Hungary, but is characteristic of the region—moreover, of almost every country in Europe. Gypsy children take part in lower general education to an extent that lags considerably behind the national average; in middle and higher education their number is extremely small. This is a serious obstacle in the way of a healthy life, as well as of adaptation into the world of work and the normal life of society
