This article examines the evolution of the social conflicts around collective enterprises in Andalusia. The analysis centres on the role that ideological and more broadly political factors may have played in these conflicts. Were worker enterprises considered an instrument for the emancipation of workers or, rather, a sort of antidote to the revolution? The period examined extends from the emergence of Fourierism in Andalusia through to the end of the Civil War. A few parallels are drawn with the situation of collective enterprises in more recent times
