Much new information has come to light recently regarding the Neolithic periods in Jordan. It also becomes clear that, as in Palestine, the Negev and Sinai, there are major differences in the economic strategies adopted respectively by population in the steppe and those in the moist Mediterranean woodland zone. This paper concerns the evidence for Neolithic groups beyond the Mediterranean zones sites in the dry steppe and the dry/moist steppic margins
