The six books under review here all contribute to our knowledge and understanding of cultures from ancient Greece, ranging from the early phases of the Neolithic around 7000 BCE to the fifth century BCE Classical period. Some of the authors use archaeological evidence to reveal aspects of the ancient Greeks, others depend more on ancient texts, but all reveal in one way or another the alterity of the ancient inhabitants. Almost all the authors are analytic and theoretical although there is much descriptive data as well, especially in the archaeological works. These works represent new perspectives and new insights into the lives of the ancient Greeks. Keywords: Ancient Greecearchaeologymemory Additional informationNotes on contributorsPETER ALLEN Peter S.
