The development of Information Technologies led numerous libraries and research centres to envision sharing theirs electronic archives with the general public. Thus such projects cannot be undertaken without reassessing part of the database initial orientations. This paper presents the results of tests carried out as part of a digitisation project undertaken by a team of librarians and historians from Lille University. Our aim was to evaluate the way different people “ saw” the same set of images so as to rethink the way the archive had been indexed
