The affordable knowledge broadcaster, Jean-Henri Fabre saw tardily the gratefulness. His extraordinary notoriety on the eve of the first world war extends in the early 1920’s, days of centenary’s celebration of his birth. With the entry of science into school curricula, like zoology and particularly the insect’s study, the textbook writers have used zoology work of the naturalist from Sérignan. Even if he doesn’t directly influence the curriculum, a detailed examination of textbooks published by Delagrave, Magnard and Hachette reveals the single place occupied by his work of popularisation on their pages, especially with the Cicada. He shows how the representation of the insect by Fabre, through the writing, photography and film, permeates the school transmission of scientific knowledge. Between 1938 and 1952, all the authors draw on the Souvenirs entomologiques
