NOTE: THIS ARTICLE IS AVAILABLE IN THE PRINT EDITION ONLY. Dialogue efforts that attempt to ignore religion or obscure religious identities are ultimately unhelpful; interfaith collaboration must begin with understanding and respect for the uniqueness of faith communities. Faith community members must learn to express how being a devout believer within their particular faith also makes them a good citizen and contributor to a collective society. Rather than relegating faith to the background and trying to focus on commonalities, what is needed is a public language of faith that will help believers to prevent conflict, bridge communal divides, and multiply the social capital that exists within diverse faith communities
