Christians can help restore public understanding of security as a means to protect human dignity. Through assessing the intent, implementation, and impact of current immigration enforcement tactics, we can make recommendations concerning the proper role of both policy makers and the church in advancing more effective and humane policies. The best strategy to alleviate pressures on US borders is to reform the immigration visa system. Christians should support an immigration system in which effective and humane enforcement is joined with legal structures that are responsive to our economy and to the integrity of the family unit
