The article discusses the poetics of the description of the festivals in Ancient Egyptian texts. The author considers four ways of presenting information about the festival: commemorative inscriptions, royal annals, calendar lists, texts of mortuary literature. Many inscriptions on labels and vessels from the Early Dynastic and Old Kingdom periods report on the celebration of the Sed-festival and graphically represent the place of the ritual: the area near the royal residence, probably in the courtyard where the festival pavilion stood
