The following is a report of a first-person inquiry related to an international experience where the author was aware of feelings of alienation that he brought with him into the experience. Grounded in his historical experience as a special education university faculty, an upper middle class, straight white male, the phenomenon of othering made its way into his work with a group of Palestinian teachers. The awareness described was emergent and required dialogue to unravel. This inquiry is tracked through various phases. The author benefited from significant feedback from others involved throughout the process
