Due to the spread of manufacturing plants into rural areas, agriculture is no longer the only source of income in a village, but has become one among several other possibilities for making a living. At the same time, agriculture has become highly mechanized, which has eliminated the need for hired labor. In their economic needs, farm owners and landless people have become independent from each other. This paper discusses the former and the present social and economic relationships between these two groups
