AbstractDuring the nineteenth century, the Maia family built a substantial heritage in the locality of Camanducaia, southern Minas Gerais. When mounting the agricultural enterprise, as in other large properties in the region, a significant number of slaves was purchased. This study aims to examine parental relationships built by these captives during the nineteenth century, specifically in the period from 1811 to 1860. Crossing information from various sources, analyze the formation of marital unions, alliances woven through relationships patronage and also the stability of the family nucleus over the years. Thus we could follow the plot of kinship relations in the slave huts built the Maia family for nearly half a century, identifying extensive kinsfolk who had considerable stability over time. Keywords: Slavery; Family Slave; Southern Minas
