Les donnees archeologiques relatives a l’occupation rurale du Berry gallo-romain ont fait l’objet de diverses analyses, spatiales et quantitatives. Les habitats ruraux sont ici confrontes a la repartition des limons en Champagne berrichonne, de facon a verifier l’hypothese traditionnelle qui veut que les limons aient joue un role preponderant dans l’implantation des sites. Il en ressort que cette opinion classique doit etre largement nuancee. En effet, si l’on ne peut nier les relations de proximite entre certains sites et des placages limoneux, elles sont bien loin de concerner la majorite des habitats ruraux antiques
