Ictioarqueología en la Llanura Aluvial del Río Paraná (Santa Fe, Argentina)

In this paper we present the results of the analysis of two ichtyofaunal assemblages from archaeological sites placed in the insular sector of the Alluvial Plain of Paraná river basin (Santa Fe province, Argentina). Topographic gradient is variable in both sites (Las Tejas and Pajas Blancas) in addition, aspect towards the interior of the ambient produce differences in the flood–drought pulses that affect these spaces in a differential way. Considering that the sites are located in different altitudes, the analysis aims to evaluate if there were differences in the composition of fish abundance in each assemblage. In order to do that, richness, homogeneity and heterogeneity analysis of the groups were made. The analysis of fishbone assemblages variability in terms of their taxonomic representation allows us to establish whether a particular taxon was exploited in a more intensive way and to evaluate the specimens distribution between the identified taxonomic categories. Better inferences toward the exploitation of fishes in the past can be obtained by including the probable capture areas and the processing techniques.
