In this interview, Roger Bartra addresses in a detailed and accessible manner, his analysis of the relation between the brain and the conscience. In his book, Anthropology of the Brain, published in Spanish and in English (Cambridge University Press) Bartra conducts a wide-ranging exploration of the conceptual limits of the scientific explanations and those of the social sciences in this relation. As a social anthropologist, Roger Bartra proposes the concept of ”exo-cerebrum”, this ”prosthesis” brain characterised by its considerable plasticity and which conditions our subjectivity and our relation with the environment
