The continuities are seen in this forth consecutive winning for the Concertación, Chilean’s historical left-centered coalition since the recoverty of democracy in 1989. The changes arise with Bachelet’s person, beeing the first woman to be president of the country. 2006 electoral context caracterized by divisions within right-wing parties, by an excellent performance of Ricardo Lagos previous government as well as by successes and mistakes of the Concertación. The challenges the president faces are linked to her ability to articulate theses continuity and innovative elements in Chilean politics
