Etude du conflit entre philosophie et politique, opposant la figure du philosophe a celle du citoyen, dans l'oeuvre de H. Arendt et de L. Strauss. Examinant l'harmonie episodique, mais necessaire, de l'action et de la pensee, l'A. montre qu'Arendt et Strauss partagent la possibilite d'une forme socratique de la citoyennete, mais que celle-ci echoue contre la fausse alternative du republicanisme civique et de l'elitisme philosophique. Critiquant la tradition de la democratie liberale, Arendt et Strauss s'accordent sur la question d'une citoyennete alienee, mais restent des theoriciens radicalement etrangers en ce qui concerne leur pratique theorique
