Survey results from a sample of Ontario farm women are compared to previous quantitative efforts to identify the concept and predictors of in public opinion. This study is unique among investigations of feminism as a mass-belief system because it asked women to define in an open-ended question. Demographic and agricultural variables are shown to be related to their answers. This paper concludes that women's conceptualization of feminism can and should be used further to develop quantitative indicators of feminist consciousness
