In view of the dynamically advancing urbanisation processes, one of the major goals faced by local authorities is to ensure better quality of life for city residents. To meet this goal, it is necessary to –among other things – run and complete construction projects in cities. However, even if effects of construction activities explicitly contribute to improving the life quality, at the stage of construction project implementation it is hard to unambiguously determine their impact on the subjective well-being of individuals. This article aims to assess the impact exerted by implementation of construction projects related to civil engineering structures on residents' life quality in Szczecin, which is the capital of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship located in the north-west of Poland. This will make it possible to identify issues related to construction projects implementation from the local community perspective, and to select appropriate solutions to address the identified problems. To achieve the aim of this article, an inductive approach was applied to draw conclusions for the research area, based on the actual data collected. The research process applied the grounded theory, and the primary data were collected with the use of questionnaires. The authors managed to identify the areas that are the most adversely affected by construction projects, which may form the basis for developing recommendations aimed at curbing the impacts.
