In the article on the basis of the documents of the State Archive of the Russian Federation provides a general description of a group of Soviet teachers who worked in Tanzania in the 1960s — 1980s. Beginning in 1969, in accordance with the terms of the Soviet-Tanzanian contract on the secondment of Soviet specialists, teachers arrived in Tanzania on an annual basis to work in Tanzanian secondary schools. The teachers sent on secondment were middle-aged, lived primarily in the RSFSR, BSSR and UkSSR, had experience teaching in secondary schools, and traveled with their families. Upon arrival in Dar-es-Salaam, the teachers were assigned by the Tanzanian Ministry of National Education to educational institutions in need. The places of work were mainly boarding schools located in rural areas. During their work, the teachers could hold the position of class teachers and perform auxiliary work. Relations with the teaching staff, school administrations and students were generally good and prosperous. The specialists lived either in apartments or in houses with a private household. For transportation, they mainly used public transport or motorcycles, since the purchase of personal cars was greatly hampered by the currency and financial crisis in Tanzania
