Students of administration, and practitioners of the art and science of administration in a wide variety of organizational settings, have occasionally turned to literature for instruction. While their training itself normally has ignored the perspective of the novelist, administrators have frequently benefitted from the insights and understandings of those novelists who have portrayed administrators, institutions, role conflicts, decision-making processes, and the impact of organizational life on individuals and society.
