Knowledge politics, or the politics of knowledge, is a term to describe the relation between knowledge claims and political decision‐making. Scholars have investigated the relative influence of one over the other, the rising impact of knowledge, and the asymmetric relation between the two, which seems to confer power to politics. Knowledge politics denotes the practices of initiating, regulating, and using knowledge in order to justify specific policies. Conceptually, a distinction between knowledge, science, and expertise is required in order to avoid confusion
