This entry describes what “disability sport” is, some of its origins and why it came into existence, its importance as a tool to promote both physical well‐being and societal inclusion, and some of the issues that arise from this process. The entry is split into four parts: a description of what disability sport is, who it is for, and a definition of the difference between impairment and disability; a brief history of disability sport and a description of the reasons why it was conceived of as such an important tool in the rehabilitation and inclusion of people with disabilities; an outline of some of the issues in using disability sport as a tool for inclusion; and the importance of the classification system in promoting fair competition in disability sport and some of the issues and complexities associated with it
