Posthumanism seeks to overthrow anthropocentrism by drawing attention to the nonhuman objects that fundamentally shape social life. Whereas classical and contemporary sociological thought identified the human species as the force that determines the universal status of things, posthumanism maintains that this position is in dire need of reconsideration. In the western tradition, the human is viewed as the ultimate social/rational/political being: one that is able to perceive the world, think about it, and communicate it back to others
