The work of Michel Foucault overflows the boundaries of conventionally established disciplinary fields. Foucault challenged the designation of his work as philosophy or history and chose “The History of Systems of Thought” for the title of his chair at the Collège de France. His wide‐ranging analyses have informed discussion and debate in a multiplicity of academic fields including anthropology, architecture, accountancy, business and cultural studies, education, feminism, film, literature, politics, and not least sociology
