Cultural capital” refers to cultural endowments that convey power and status. In its three forms – objectified (e.g., books), institutionalized (e.g., diplomas), and embodied (e.g., tastes and manners) – it draws symbolic boundaries between social groups or classes. Traditionally indexed on the divide between high and popular culture, these boundaries are now drawn more on the gradient of cultural diversity, contrasting culturally open elites to the more restricted and fragmented popular cultural repertoires
