The article discusses the of information and communication technologies application in science and education in the context of digitalization by the example of the State Academic University for the Humanities (GAUGN University). It is noted that the digital transition has significantly influenced the changes in research methods and practices, particularly in the humanities, and therefore the application of digital technologies and digital content in education requires special attention. In this regard, the experience of GAUGN is noteworthy is notable for the fact that GAUGN primary objective is to train specialists for research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Therefore, the introduction of digital technologies into the educational process is primarily aimed at improving the mechanisms for integrating science and education. One such technological solution was first online scientific journals — the Electronic Scientific and Educational Journal “ISTORIYA” (“HISTORY”) created in 2009. It served as the starting point for the development of the editorial and publishing platform Journal of Education and Science (JES), which significantly expanded the possibilities for using scientific periodicals in the educational process. Specifically, the electronic library system “SOCHUM” was launched on the foundation of the JES platform. It is based on the principle of automatically replenishing library collection with publications from online scientific journals. The use of the JES platform as a platform for developing and testing educational and methodological literature also deserves special attention. This is explored in the article using the example of the project “History of Russia through the History of Regions”. Based on the examples provided in the article, it is argued that the use of digital technologies at the State Academic University for the Humanities has not only improved teaching efficiency but also created technical conditions for a unified digital communication space for the professional community of scholars and educators
