Ecotourism is considered as a sustainable tool for maintaining balance between well-being of the local community and conservation of the environment. It also provides a nature-friendly climate and optimum satisfaction to the visitors visiting the tourist site. This research utilises the contingent valuation method (CVM) to ascertain visitors' mean willingness to pay (MWTP) for ecotourism development in the Chilika wetland, India. A survey has been conducted with 321 participants to estimate their MWTP for conservation initiatives related to ecotourism. The research used descriptive analysis to assess the MWA (mean weighted average) and polychoric PCA (principal component analysis) to understand visitors' satisfaction with the attributes of the tourist region. Further, the binary logit model determines visitors' MWTP, which is found to be INR 50.41 (USD 0.60). Among visitors, 65.94% expressed a willingness to provide financial support for conservation efforts. However, a significant number of respondents (34.05%) expressed uncertainties over corruption and mishandling of funds. The study suggests that entry fees should be introduced for conservation purposes and proper monitoring as well as strong technology related to security and safety could be used to increase visitor satisfaction and conservation knowledge, thereby contributing to the long-term viability of ecotourism conservation
