This study extends the gravity model to examine how Russian aluminum exports respond to increases in renewable energy production across 58 global trading partners from 1990 to 2022. This objective is realized by estimating an augmented gravity model using quantiles via moments and the Driscoll and Kraay standard error approaches. The findings reveal a significant positive impact of the renewable energy transition on the export flow of Russian aluminum, indicating the critical role of Russian aluminum in renewable energy production. Furthermore, the study shows that the economic growth of the Russian Federation and its trading partners acts as a catalyst in facilitating the supply of Russian minerals to the global market. Additionally, geographic distance and exchange rates exert a significant negative influence on export flows, validating the basic proposition of the gravity model. These findings are further supported by the simultaneous panel quantile regression technique. Overall, this study provides robust insights with significant policy implications for ensuring a continuous flow of Russian mineral supply to support global clean energy transformation and a sustainable future
