L'A. expose son experience de travail de terrain dans un petit village de la region de Nottingham (Angleterre) qu'elle a mene aupres de jeunes enfants de 5 a 6 ans. L'objectif de son etude est l'analyse de la socialisation comme processus didactique chez les enfants, pris comme sujets ethnographiques, selon une perspective psychologique et pedagogique. Elle presente la position particuliere du chercheur lors d'une approche ethnographique sur l'enfance, l'illusion de sa comprehension de l'enfance a partir de son experience passee et de sa memoire, l'histoire personnelle de l'ethnologue en tant qu'outil methodologique de recherche, enfin les problemes poses lors de l'ecriture ethnographique, abordant a la fois la narration et l'analyse fragmentaire des donnees
