If European labor is to become more than just a mere respondent to the immense changes which will engulf as a consequence of the introduction of the Internal Market (Europe '92 or 1992) on January 1, 1993, the German Trade Union Federation (Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund, DGB) will have to assume a position of decisive leadership.
