Had I come across a set of methods of analysis which were as arbitrary and futile as the ones ascribed to me in Marcia Herndon's article Reply to Kolinski: Tarus Omicida (1976), I would have been most anxious to denounce their various pitfalls.1 After stressing in an earlier article the diametric opposition between the model and the model (1974:222), Herndon qualified my methods as using the process model, among other attributes (ibid.:232). Oblivious of this identification, Herndon reverses her prior evaluation and emphasizes in her recent article that Kolinski's method is static (and classificatory),.. . (1976:218). As a result, she resorts to such incredible diatribes as the following one
