There were over 250 participants from twenty-five countries. A comprehensive accompanying further education exhibition, a learning festival as part of the British Week of Further Education (Adult Learners' Week), and excursions to various places of learning, high-level participation by the British government (three ministers), the top people in industrialist organizations and trade unions, representatives of the GD XXII of the EU, as well as the most important NGOs of the European Association of Adult Education, documented the great importance attached in Great Britain to further education under the new Labour policy
