This article argues that the agency of the Arab Bedouin across state borders played a remarkable role in the establishment of a translocal order containing Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. It first examines the translocalization of tribal nationality highlighting their achievements to remain in a trans-border existence against French and British mandates, and, second, reveals the constructive roles played by tribes in the establishment of a tranquil translocal order by preventing illicit arms trade. Third, it indicates their efforts in the ‘cross-spatialization’ of the national fields. Finally, it uncovers the tribal struggle against Wahhabi expansionism, which threatened a regionwide translocal formation
