The press conference. The transactions between trade unionists and Labour correspondents. Sandrine Lévêque. [120-134]. The importation of the press conference technique in the relationships between Labour correspondents and trade union spokespersons has enabled them to redefine, in a transactional way, their respective positions, their roles and the legitimate form of their relationship. Their transactions, previously based on proximity militant links that did not require such a formalization, have been transformed with the modification of the iournalistic and trade union worlds. However, the ethnography of a press conference of the CGT shows that it is the place for a set of activities that exceed the declaration and the question-answer games. The press conference is in fact a theatre for a set of interactions through which journalists tend to reaffirm their independance. It is also a social place where they have the more personal relationships needed for their trade
